One question.

Why.

It may be more fun to have different classes based on the number of
pins
and/or top caps... :-) I could flash test an EA50 on the 36kV tester
at
work without immediate competition from a transmitting valve then!

Hmmm... let's have rule 6 as "There is no rule 6". Apologies to Gregg!

Although this thread might be mistaken as car audio-esque, I think this
really could "have legs", as it could demonstrate the superiority of
valves over squalid state in a new way.

Radar systems are switched by valves which are momentarily rated at
tens of megawatts, so our mission statement should be something about
reaching the magic megawatt!

My guess is that PL509s/PL504s/PL81s could achieve minor miracles off
10kv or so.

Re: different classes - yes, definitely.

Yum... hydrogen thyratrons... can have a class for those too.

Yep. That's why results will be noted in the entry.

So come on people... give me some results to post! It's pointless to bicker
over rules that don't even have any entries to sort!

There is something to be said for some ground rules..
if i'd start using some serious russian transmitter tubes at several KV,
how's that 'fair' competition to, say, a PL509 ??
