divx disks with menus |
|
|
I have some divx files which I am planning to burn onto DVD disks (in divx
format). I would like to be able to view these on a standalone dvd/divx
player that I am going to purchase in the near future. However I would also
like to set up some sort of menu system, so I can select the program I want
to watch when the disk is in the player.
Does anybody know what software I require in order to produce menus which
will work on a standalone player.
Thanks in advance
Rob

The Philips DVP642 (about $70 US) will play DivX movies and has its
own menu system, although there's a limit to the number of characters
it will display for any one item. DivX files can be either in the
root disc folder or in named folders.
I burn multiple DivX and/or XviD movies (usually oversize or joined
multi-CD) to DVDs and am able to select which will play very easily.

ditto. Get the phillips player as it does what Larc just mentioned. I burn
several formats sometimes on a 4.7gig DVD. WMV/xvid/Divx etc... The player
lists them on a very simple menu and will go in order, or you can use your
remote to highlight the desired one and play that. The only downside is the
longer titles are cut off a little bit (in the menu). Not really a big deal
as I use a sharpie on the disk to remind me of whats on it. Its agruably
the best multi format player on the market. Lite on fans can claim the
same. But that machine seems to cost a few dollars more for essentially the
same thing.
for 69$, you cannot go wrong.
