Media has 2 meanings.

As you may have noticed, "media" has two meanings.

For example, TV, newspapers, etc. are media, and are known collectively as themass media. A media is a means of communicating information. Essentially, a media is an information interface.

But the word "media" also refers to physical storage devices for recording or retrieval, such as DVD, music CD, CD-ROM, MD, MO disc, and floppy disc.

In the first usage, "media" denotes both the communication media and the contents. In the second usage, "media" means the physical storage media excluding contents.
