2. 3 application formats applicable to all
3 recording types(disk)
The three application formats--DVD-Video, DVD-Audio
and DVD-ROM--can be applied to the DVD-ROM (read-only) disc and
the DVD-R (write-once) disc for Authoring.
DVD-Video for DVD-RAM (rewritable) disc is a
different format because of the copy protection issue and random
access. It is called the DVD Video Recording Format.
Software titles aimed at the consumer market--whether
DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, or DVD-ROM--will be stored on DVD-ROM (read-only)
discs.
DVD-Video is for movies and music videos. DVD-Audio,
offering superior sound quality with multi channel, is for music.
And DVD-ROM, which will be available in both Windows 95, Windows
98 and Macintosh, is for playback of multimedia titles.
